BEIJING

Turkey and more

Thanksgiving celebrations kick off early in China's capital, with a weekend of holiday dinners at Windy City Ballroom. Headlining the menu is "turducken", a bird-in-bird-in-bird with a chicken stuffed into a duck stuffed into a turkey. (Diners can also choose thick-cut glazed gammon ham as their entree.) The Thanksgiving spread will be served from 1 to 9 pm on Nov 21 and 22; the price is 258 yuan ($40) for adults, with a special children's buffet offered free for kids 10 and under who dine with their parents.

A big hairy deal

Maovember, Beijing's answer to a global fundraising event for charity held every November, continues on Saturday with a series of events including a monster brunch at Migas to celebrating the unshaven. As usual, brunch includes grilled meats straight from the josper oven, along with stews, salads, desserts, fresh breads and special treats for this event-including mustache-shaped cookies. The brunch is 210 yuan with drinks, including sangria, gin and tonics, wine by the glass and bottle, and more, available a la carte, with 80 percent of sales to the Maovember charity, the Orbis flying eye hospital. You don't have to sport a mustache to play.

Saturday, noon-3 pm, 6/F, Nali Patio, 81 Sanlitun North Road. 010-5208-6061.
