Now, baking has recently been experiencing a renaissance. Riding the crest of that wave, an interesting bakery has recently opened its doors here in Beijing. The Baking Arts Gallery in the capital allows visitors to see some exquisite works of edible art on display, and also learn from the chefs how to make them for themselves.

A feast for the taste buds, and also a visual spectacle!

Creativities fill the air of the baking arts gallery. White castles, cartoon characters, fairy maidens...all come to life through the hands of the pastry chefs. Visitors say it's like a wonderland here:

"They are much more beautiful than the cakes we usually eat. Exquisite!"

"I am blown away by the artistry here. Look at this fairy maiden, her facial expressions are so vivid, so real. It's unbelievable."

The pastry chefs are also on hand to demonstrate how it's done. Visitors can even have a try for themselves.

The gallery spans an area of over 2,500 square meters and was founded by master chef Cao Jitong. Having been in the business for 3 decades, he is one of most celebrated pastry chef in China.

"Baking is not only a skill it's also an art that I want to share with more people. This gallery is like a summary of my career in this business. I hope it will become a platform for baking enthusiasts to communicate," Cao said.

Gino's Baking Arts Gallery has already opened to the public. What better place to awaken the senses and while away in your weekend hours.
