In China, according to the recommend standard of calcium requirement during pregnancy, moms-to-be would better take 1,000 mg calcium at second trimester (4 - 6 months), and 1,500 mg daily for late trimester of pregnancy. Dairy products are recognized as rich source of calcium and protein. Sometimes Vitamin D is added to promote the absorption of calcium.
