Chinese dream can inspire Arabs: researcher

New page turner

The Arabian world should follow China's lead to realize its "Arabian dream", said Samir Ahmed, a Jordanian researcher in China-Arab relations.

His latest observations of the their (Note: I changed this because "Arab/Arabian" isn’t a country, it’s a culture/ethnic designation) growth paths were put together in Following the Culture, the Emergence of China and the Future of Arabians.

The book's Chinese version was released by the Beijing Normal University Publishing Group in the Beijing International Book Fair Saturday. "The Arabian world has been talking about its revival for the last two hundred years," Ahmed said.

"We've been looking to the West, but no real revival has come out of that." "China's success is based on a model different from the West's," he said. "Its success is impressive and we should learn from it."

"The Arabian world has just started to look to the east for cultural influences," Liu Xinlu, professor of Arabian studies with Beijing Foreign Studies University said. "Both sides need to deepen its understanding of the other. "

"For the Arabians, the Chinese experience in reform and opening up is one of the things they're most eager to learn about," Liu said.

"I hope my book will lead our people to learn from China and grow with it," Ahmed said. "And realize our Arabian dreams for real."
