As of Tuesday, the government of north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region has allocated about 180 million yuan (about 23 million U.S. dollars) and huge amount of materials to help the people whose life were affected by natural disasters to live through winter.

Inner Mongolia was hit by various sorts of natural disasters including droughts, hails, floods and frosts in 2005, which affected the life of 7.5 million people.

The disasters dilapidated 25,900 houses and killed 560,000 livestock in the autonomous region, bringing about a direct economic loss of 7.8 billion yuan (975 million U.S. dollars).

An official with the regional department of civil affairs said the local government showed great concerns over the life of the disaster-affected population and attached great importance to the reconstruction of the disaster-hit areas and relocation of the people.

The official said Inner Mongolia has already spent 184.73 million yuan (23 million U.S. dollars) in disaster relief and sent 27,161 tons of coal to the relocated population for heating use.

Besides, more than 100,000 pieces of clothes and 5 million yuan (625,000 U.S. dollars), which were donated from various parts of the country, have already been handed out to the disaster-affected population.
