Two pigs trapped by the Lushan earthquake for 45 days were found in a village in Baoxing county, Sichuan province on Tuesday, Chengdu Commercial Daily reported.

A construction team was removing debris when they found the pigs. They were trapped in a gap under a toppled slab and a wall.

Li Deming, who was with the construction team, told Chengdu Commercial Daily that the pigs were weak from lack of food and water and both had lost about 15 kilograms from their normal weight of 40 kg.

They were able to get some moisture intake from the soil, and that played a major role in their survival, villagers said.
