A deputy police chief in a county in East China's Anhui province has been removed from his job after an online post revealed he had an extramarital affair.

Xu Beihuai, 50, deputy head of Sixian county's public security bureau, is under investigation by anti-corruption authorities after being removed from his post on Tuesday, Xinhua News Agency reported.

A recent online post revealed that Xu had promised to divorce his wife and marry his mistress. His mistress is pregnant and was attacked by Xu's wife, the post added.

According to a photograph of a handwritten draft circulated on the Internet, Xu wrote, "I will divorce … within a year. I will leave home if I fail to divorce. I promise."

The post also said Xu owns many houses and is suspected of taking bribes.

The county government said anti-graft authorities will verify the online accusations made against Xu.
