The Geneva-based Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria lifted its freeze of its grants to China worth hundreds of millions of dollars, but the grant will be cut by over 50 percent, the Beijing Times reported Thursday.

The grant will be usable starting in September after the fund froze its grant to China in May over its concern about the use of the money and the lack of involvement of community groups.

China's Ministry of Health had denied the claim of fund misuse and attributed the misunderstanding to weak management, which led to fixed assets not being taken into account as an expense in time.
