FUZHOU - Southeast China's coastal province of Fujian has ordered local ships to seek harbor as approaching Typhoon Nanmadol could cause huge waves, according to the provincial flood control headquarters on Saturday.
The typhoon was 1,000 km southeast of Fujian with a wind speed of 180 km per hour at its center at 8 am Saturday, said the headquarters.
It is moving towards southern Taiwan at a speed of 8 km per hour, the headquarters said, predicting high tides in Fujian's coastal regions.
The headquarters ordered all ships from Taiqian fish farm to return to the harbor before 8 pm Saturday and those of Minnan fish farm before Sunday midday as the two farms are closest to Taiwan.
