US assistance to China accumulates to $2.8 mn

BEIJING  -- Up to Thursday morning, the US government assistance to China's quake-hit areas had accumulated to 2.8 million US dollars, said US Ambassador to China Clark Randt here Thursday.

Randt said the assistance included the extra assistance and medical equipment provided by the US Agency for International Development. The US National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) will also provide China with satellite images on the destroyed reservoirs, roads and bridges in quake-hit areas.

The US Red Cross has donated 10 million US dollars, according to the embassy.
