Taiwan medical team arrives in quake-hit Sichuan

CHENGDU -- A 37-member medical team sent by the Taiwan Red Cross organization arrived in quake-stricken Sichuan Province Tuesday afternoon.

The medical team arrived in Chengdu at around 2:10 p.m., and will head for Deyang city to provide medical service at the Deyang People's Hospital later in the afternoon.

This is the second team of Taiwan aid personnel that has arrived in Sichuan, where a 8.0-magnitude earthquake on May 12 has killed more than 34,000 people.

The first one, a 22-men rescue team arrived in Chengdu on May 16, and has helped with rescue operations in Hanwang Township in Mianzhu since Saturday.
