A man surnamed Zhang who reads electricity meters for a power company in villages located in Yangxi county, Guangdong province, has hired a youngster to accompany for fear of the dogs.

Almost every village family keeps a dog. Some can be very vicious when Zhang enters a home to read the meter.

Zhan pays the youngster, who is familiar with the dogs, five yuan (70 cents) per village.

Zhang has so far remained safe. He visits the villages once a month.
