PlayStation APP

The PlayStation provides mobile applications on both iOS and Android platfroms. Users can purchase and download games while in the workplace and enjoy the games back home.

Unfortunately, the app is not available in the Chinese-Language iOS and Google Play is also not accessible in China.

General design

The shape of the box is slim. Sony has a plastic stand that sells separately for $14 that helps the system stand upright.

On the front-facing side, it offers a slot-loading Blu-ray disc drive and two powered USB 3.0 ports, which can charge the DualShock 4 controllers even when the system is switched off.

For wireless connections, the PS4 uses 802.11 b/g/n for WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1 for its wireless DualShock 4 controllers.

DualShock 4 wireless controller

Although some people argue the share and option buttons are hard to reach, the improved controller that features a front-facing touchpad has been admired as the best controller yet produced by Sony.

The controller is easy to hold and can be charged with the provided Micro-USB cable, while unlike the Xbox One controller, the battery cannot be replaced.

User-accessible hard drive

Compared with the Xbox One, the device originally ships with a 500 gigabytes, 5,400 RPM Package Manager hard drive, while users can upgrade for a 2.5-inch SATA drive with a larger capacity for potentially increased performance.
