MACAO - Macao's Composite Consumer Price Index (CPI) for November went up by 5.72 percent over the same period of last year, according to the figures released Wednesday by the city's Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).

In comparison with November 2011, price index of alcoholic beverages and tobacco, housing and fuels, and household goods and furnishings recorded notable year-on-year increase of more than 8 percent during the period, due to dearer prices of liquefied petroleum gas and higher charges for domestic services, according to the figures.

Meanwhile, price index of education and communication decreased by 3.06 percent and 1.05 percent respectively year-on-year.

The average Composite CPI for the first eleven months of 2012 increased by 6.13 percent year-on-year. For the 12 months ending in November of 2012, the average Composite CPI rose by 6.19 percent from the preceding period.
