BEIJING - China's quality watchdog said Thursday that it is inspecting FAW-Volkswagen's new Sagitar after consumer complaints over a defect in the rear axle.

The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) has analyzed a problem that reportedly occurred in the trailing arm of the rear axle, said AQSIQ in an online statement.

The AQSIQ said they have spoken with FAW-Volkswagen and asked the automaker to solve the problem as soon as possible and cooperate with the inspection.

The AQSIQ also hoped consumers would share information to help the technical analysis.
