AkzoNobel launches fifth year of China Student Sustainability Award

About AkzoNobel China Student Sustainability Award

Launched in 2011 by AkzoNobel – a leading global paints and coatings company and a major producer of specialty chemicals – the AkzoNobel China Student Sustainability Award is a pioneering honor in China targeted at university student societies. The award aims to recognize and reward university student societies that have made outstanding contributions to society around the subject of sustainability, promote the philosophy of sustainability among students, encourage active student participation in social responsibility projects, as well as raise public awareness of social responsibility and support public engagement in sustainability initiatives.

Held annually and open to student groups from all colleges and universities throughout China, the award focuses on university students social responsibility practices and highlights the effective organizations and sustainable development of university student social responsibility projects, so as to fully demonstrate excellent projects as well as the organization and execution capabilities of China's university student organizations. The promotion of student social responsibility projects will thus achieve greater impact and attract more involvement from society.

AkzoNobel's 2016 China Student Sustainability Award emphasizes and rewards student-initiated education support projects as well as other projects related to community services. It has 80 awards, among which there are five gold awards (10,000 yuan prize respectively); four special awards (8,000 yuan prize), namely MCA Special Award, Intersleek Special Award, Elotex Special Award, and Armeen Special Award; twenty silver awards (RMB 5,000 prize respectively); fifty bronze awards (2,000 yuan prize respectively), and the Interpon eco-magination award (20,000 yuan).

About China College Students Education Support Program

The China Communist Youth League has launched a China College Students Education Support Program that serves as a platform for companies to support university students around community services. The AkzoNobel China Student Sustainability Award is one of the first core projects of this program.
