Online vendors gear up for 'Singles'Day' festival

Online vendors are busy preparing for the upcoming Singles' Day shopping splurge on Nov 11, China's biggest annual sales carnival.

Alibaba, China's e-commerce behemoth, reported record sales of 57.1 billion yuan ($9 billion) during last year's 24-hour online shopping spree.

Zhang, a Hangzhou-based Taobao vendor, said she is as busy as a bee stocking, designing advertisements and crafting promotion plans as Nov 11 draws near.

During last year's shopping carnival period, Zhang's sales volume surpassed five times compared with other days, and her highest daily revenue reached 30,000 yuan ($4,734).

College students from Zhejiang Agriculture and Forest University are also busy to preparing for the shopping carnival in the startup accelerator based on their campus.
