A bombed-out hole measuring up to 19 meters was found in the No 6 tomb of Qin state in June in Xi’an, Shaanxi province, but the treasures remain intact, chinanews.com reported on Thursday.
The explosive reached the main vault of the ancient tomb belonging to the family cemetery of Qin Shihuang, China’s first emperor. However, the solid cedar wood structure surrounding the tomb protected the treasure from being invaded, the report said.
The cemetery is 12 kilometers long and 3 kilometers wide. A total of 19 regents of Qin state were buried here during a reign of 294 years. Qin Shihuang established the Qin Dynasty in 221 BC, and ruled until 206 BC.
The local offcials confirmed that police has made it a priority to investigate, the report said.
