Updated: 2007-12-12 22:11 PYONGYANG -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and South Korea began their seventh general-level military talks Wednesday, the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported. During the talks, held at the House of Peace on the southern side of Panmunjom, the DPRK proposed a draft agreement on the disputed West Sea (Yellow Sea) issue, said the KCNA. The draft agreement asked both sides to define waters for joint fishing and peaceful waters, provide a military guarantee for cooperation and maintain their naval forces out of conflict in the sea, the report said. The DPRK also said it would take measures to increase the time of passage through the Kaesong Industrial Zone and the Mt. Kumgang tourist zone, ensure speedy and smooth communications and cut down customs clearance time in those zones, according to the KCNA. The bilateral military talks are scheduled to conclude Friday. |
