The group merged with the financial department of the Guangdong Broadcasting Corporation this year in order to provide professional financial transaction information. It plans to go public and serve more than 100 million users by 2019.
Mo also spoke of the group transforming from a traditional publisher to a culture and new media group, combining the latest in Internet and cultural resources. "The Nanfang Media Group-owned 289 Art Park will assemble talents and technologies to serve for the industrial upgrade and urban reinvigoration through the online and offline platforms," Mo said.
Mo said that Guangdong-based Nanfang Daily will continue to produce informative news and entertaining stories in both tradiotnal and new media formats.
Huang Changkai, chief editor of Nanfang Daily, said, "Media convergence does not mean repeating news in the newspaper, websites and mobile apps. Instead, we will renew the communication method."
Huang said the paper plans to keep making scoops and in-depth features, as well as adding new items covering livelihood and health.
