Taicang Port's streamlined customs clearance system has led to a big rise in the volume of import and export goods passing through the Jiangsu province facility, according to the latest figures released by the port.

The port processed 33.6 million tons of import/export cargo during the first three quarters of 2016, a 27.8 increase year on year.

This rise also appears to be accelerating, with 4.02 million tons of goods passing through Taicang Port in September, 31.6 percent more than during the same period in 2015.

Taicang's success is just reward for its hard work to make its customs clearance system and procedures more efficient.

Faced with a sluggish global economic outlook in 2016, the port cooperated with Taicang Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau to simply customs clearance procedures, and the port also introduced online customs clearance services.
