"Four Treasures of Studies" Culture Tourism Festival opens
Updated: 2011-11-21

The opening ceremony of the fifth “Four Treasures of Studies” Culture Tourism Festival

The fifth "Four Treasures of Studies" Culture Tourism Festival opened in Xuancheng city on Nov 18.

The "Four Treasures of Studies" refers to the writing brush, ink stick, ink slab and Xuan paper; historically considered essential items for study and symbols of a family's elegance and class.

During the tourism festival, Xuancheng launched a total of 100 projects each worth over 500 million yuan, with a combined value of 70 billion yuan.

"Anhui tourism has formed a very prosperous situation," said Hu Xuefan, director of Anhui Provincial Tourism Administration. “I believe that Xuancheng’s tourism will go to a new level through the festival”.

The "Four Treasures of Studies" Culture Tourism Festival was initially held in 2004 and became listed as an official festival in 2009. The 5th festival, sponsored by Anhui Provincial People's Government and China Light Industry Federation, played a positive role in protecting and promoting the culture and development of traditional stationery, such as the writing brush.
