Five macaques attract Huangshan visitors
Updated: 2011-08-02

Five macaques rambled into the tourists’ area at Huangshan Mountain, attracting plenty of photographs from visitors entranced with the rare monkeys.

For their part, the macaques, instead of acting frightened at the attention, danced and otherwise amused travelers. Three mother macaques hugged their babies, and visitors said they were especially moved when one of the macaque mother was seen comforting her infant.

Macaques, sometimes called golden monkeys for the color of their coats, are nationally protected animals.
