The Anqing Tianzhu Mountain Airport ushered in its fifty-thousandth passenger this year on August 20.
The airport was put into service in 1993, yet due to several reasons, the annual passenger volume has always been low, with the lowest of only 2,852. It was even required to close service since its infrastructure was not able to meet the requirements of civil aviation.
Shortly after that, Anqing introduced Hainan Airlines, one of the top domestic airline companies, into the airport and restructured. In 2007, the airport resumed service. Thanks to efforts on restructuring and market development, the passenger flow has increased year after year.
