FRANKFURT, Germany - The fourth Golden Tree International Documentary Film Festival presented a special China Night event on Friday evening, with the screening of a documentary on China's governance concepts.

Industry professionals, filmmakers and other guests watched the final episode of China: Time of Xi, a three-episode documentary series coproduced by China Intercontinental Communication Center and the Discovery Channel from the United States.

Illustrated with stories of individuals from Africa, Asia and Europe, the final episode, All Aboard, explores the meaning of Chinese President Xi Jinping's vision for a community with a shared future for mankind.

Kathryn Bree Fitzgerald, a Canadian filmmaker and chief consultant of the festival, said the episode conveys a clear message and can reach a greater audience.

"We tend to have a bit of a vague picture when it comes to the Belt and Road Initiative. ... So I thought this (the documentary) really put it into a very clear, human perspective, something that many people can relate to," she said.

Running from Thursday to Sunday, the Golden Tree film festival received 4,523 submissions from 126 countries and regions this year. A total of 53 documentary films are shortlisted for eight awards.
