Regulation issued on Party's publicity
The Communist Party of China Central Committee has issued a regulation on the Party's publicity and communication work. It also issued a circular, which was published on Saturday, on the implementation of the regulation, noting that the publicity and communication work is of vital importance to the Party's efforts and that it is a fine tradition and assists the Party in leading the people to secure success in revolution, construction and reform. The circular asked CPC organizations at all levels to further strengthen the Party's overall leadership over publicity work to ensure that major decisions and plans of the CPC Central Committee in this regard are implemented.
Late policeman wins award as role model
Yang Chun, a former deputy head of a district-level public security bureau, was posthumously awarded the title "role model of the times" on Friday. The title was given by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, which also made public the outstanding deeds of Yang, former deputy head of the public security bureau of Jiaocheng district in Ningde, Fujian province. In his 28-year career in public security, Yang worked diligently to maintain social order and serve the people. He died of a sudden illness while on duty at the age of 49 on Jan 23. With a strong sense of responsibility, Yang solved thousands of criminal cases and had more than 1,000 criminal suspects arrested, the department said.
New radio channel on air in Bay Area
A radio channel covering the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area started broadcasting at 7 am on Sunday. The channel, airing on FM 101.2 and AM 1215, will broadcast 21 hours a day mainly in Cantonese and also include programs in the dialects of Hakka, Chaozhou and Shantou, said the channel's operator, China Media Group. The move aims to promote comprehensive advantages of the region, enhance cooperation among the mainland, Hong Kong and Macao, and help the two special administrative regions integrate contributions into the overall development of the country, said Shen Haixiong, president of China Media Group.
