Ex-political adviser pleads guilty to graft
Wang Erzhi, former vice-chairman of the Jilin Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, pleaded guilty in court on Thursday in Heilongjiang province to taking bribes of more than 50.7 million yuan ($7.35 million). Prosecutors accused him of making use of his various positions to improperly help individuals and businesses in project construction, land leasing and the refunding of urban infrastructure fees from 2001 to 2018. Wang made a final statement and pleaded guilty in court on Thursday. The Harbin Intermediate People's Court said a verdict would be given at a later date.

Bamboo, rattan event held at intl expo
The International Bamboo and Rattan Organization held its Honor Day on Thursday at its pavilion at the International Horticultural Exhibition in Yanqing district. Ambassadors and diplomatic envoys from the organization's 45 member states and several government officials attended the event. Jiang Zehui, co-chair of the group's board of trustees, said the pavilion will be used as a platform for communication to demonstrate the extraordinary charm of bamboo and rattan in improving the environment and quality of life.
