I often urge my classmates not to litter

By Liu Kun and Li Lei | China Daily | Updated: 2019-02-25 08:07

I am a third-grader. I got to know the "ant workers" through my mom.

I often urge my classmates not to litter

She saw a group of middle-aged men and women collecting waste on the banks of the Yangtze River and decided to join them.

I followed suit and joined my mom last year. I am proud of my decision, but the thing that really bothers me is why there is so much litter on the riverbank.

It takes a toll on our living environment and has a negative impact on every citizen.

Now, I am an ant worker every weekend.

I used to lie in during holidays, but the voluntary work has transformed me into an early bird.

I have never failed to attend any weekend operations, irrespective of the weather.

The activity has helped developed my stamina and my awareness of environmental protection.

Now, I often talk to my classmates and urge them not to litter the streets or parks.
