Sex worker detained over false rape claim

A woman in Jiaxing who reported to police she had been raped, turned out to be a prostitute who was embroiled in a dispute with a client over money. Police received the report from the woman, surnamed Li, on Nov 3 and arrested the alleged assailant, surnamed Zhang, who denied her claims. Zhang said he met Li via an online dating app, and they had agreed on a consensual sex act for money. After conducting interviews, the police decided to detain Li for 20 days for engaging in prostitution and filing a false report. Zhang was detained for five days for soliciting the services of a prostitute.
