Police arrest 8 more over UK truck deaths
Vietnam has arrested eight more suspects in connection with the deaths of 39 people found in a truck in Britain who are believed to be Vietnamese, police said on Monday. "This was a very painful incident, a humanitarian accident," said Nguyen Huu Cau, director of Nghe An police, confirming the arrests in video comments carried by the state-run Tuoi Tre newspaper. The official Vietnam News Agency also confirmed the arrests, saying the suspects were detained for "organizing (and) brokering people to go abroad and stay abroad illegally".
France
33 hurt as bus heading to London flips over
Thirty-three people were injured on Sunday, at least four seriously, when a Paris-London bus with passengers from nine countries overturned in northern France, local authorities said. The Flixbus vehicle toppled onto its side around midday as it took an exit from the A1 motorway, France's busiest route, the Somme Prefecture said in a statement. Of the 33 people on board, 29 sustained light injuries and four were seriously hurt, the statement said, though the fire brigade put the number for the latter at five. Their lives are not in danger, the prefecture said.
Japan
Comfort women film back on at festival
A film festival in suburban Tokyo will show a documentary on the highly controversial issue of Japan's wartime military brothels, organizers said on Sunday, after coming under fire for dropping the movie. The film's screening was canceled last week after concerns over the safety of volunteers and objections from local officials. But the decision was reversed after "lots of voices offering cooperation to address our safety concerns", said a member of the organizing committee.
