First local breastfeeding regulation passed

Guangzhou, Guangdong province, became the first city in China to pass a regulation on breastfeeding on Tuesday, making nursing rooms for new mothers compulsory in many public spaces. Once it is approved by the provincial government, the regulation will be implemented. It requires that public places in Guangzhou, over 10,000 square meters in size or that attract more than 10,000 daily visitors - should install nursing rooms. If not, they will face a penalty of up to 50,000 yuan ($7,000). Businesses are also required to allow new mothers to take an hourlong breastfeeding break per nursing child per day.
