Crackdown yields 31,000 suspects
During Operation Kunlun, a national crackdown on counterfeits in food, drugs and environmental protection sectors initiated in August and lasting through the end of this year, police investigated 180,000 cases involving 18.47 billion yuan ($2.62 billion) in potential sales and seized 31,000 suspects. Of the cases, more than 4,500 were related to food counterfeiting.

Innovation displayed at high-tech expo
A total of 88 deals worth more than 28.6 billion yuan ($4.05 billion) were signed at the 22nd China Beijing International High-Tech Expo, which ran from Oct 24 to 27. During the high-tech expo, a host of technological solutions were on display, showing the strengths in China's innovation, organizers said.

Science promoted during festival
The Chinese Academy of Sciences launched its second science festival on Monday, which will last until Nov 3. During the festival, the academy plans to conduct more than 100 science promotional events. Integrating science with culture and arts, they are estimated to attract some 200,000 visits on-site and a livestream of the event is expected to draw more than 30 million views online, organizers said.

NIPA-approved center unveiled
A national intellectual property protection center was unveiled in Binhai New Area. Approved by the National Intellectual Property Administration, the new establishment focuses on advanced manufacturing and biopharmaceutical industries. To date, the center has offered services to 200 companies and institutions.

New store to sell CIIE products
The National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), which serves as the venue for the annual China International Import Expo, opened a new store featuring CIIE-related cultural products in mid-October. During the second CIIE, which is scheduled to start on Nov 5, more than 100 kinds of CIIE derivatives will be on sale at the store. They include dolls, badges, stamps, postcards, stationery, fashion and commemorative coins, as well as co-authorized designs.

Rail transport event founds special team
During an international rail transport industrial expo, which was held in Changsha, capital of Hunan province earlier this month, local authorities founded an intellectual property protection team dedicated to the event. Ranging from the expo's logo, trademarks, domain and accounts on social platforms to on-site supervision, consultancy and settling disputes, the team provided comprehensive services for the event's participants.

Association founded for financial services
A financial intellectual property association was founded in Shenzhen on Monday, exploring new service modes to facilitate commercialization of IP assets. The founding companies cover various financial sectors, such as banking, insurance, securities and venture capital. The association will make full use of blockchain and artificial intelligence technologies to support IP-based services, including financing, equity investment, insurance and securities.
