Editor's note: This year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China.
On Oct 30, 1989, the Project Hope charity was launched by the China Youth Development Foundation to help school dropouts from impoverished areas return to class.
In April 1991, the project's first primary school was built in Jinzhai county, Anhui province, marking a milestone for the charity.
