McLaren new GT
British carmaker McLaren gave a media preview of its new GT on Oct 18 in Beijing. The model sports a 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbocharged engine, which generates a maximum output of 612 hp. It has a top speed of 326 kilometers per hour and can sprint from zero to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds. The MonoCell II-T carbon fiber chassis has cut the car's weight to 1,530 kg. The new GT has many features designed for long-distance travel and has luggage space of up to 570 liters. McLaren has started to take orders for the model in the Chinese market, with a starting price of 1,988,000 yuan ($281,171.49).
The New RAV4 SUV
FAW Toyota launched the New RAV4 SUV in Xishuangbanna Dai autonomous prefecture, Yunnan province, on Oct 25. Defined as a Robust Accurate Vehicle with four-wheel drive, the five-seat SUV is based on the Toyota New Global Architecture or TNGA, which allows high integration of environmental protection and driving pleasure. The SUV has two powertrain variants - TNGA 2.0L engine and TNGA 2.5L hybrid power system. FAW Toyota will offer eight variants of the New RAV4 at suggested prices ranging from 174,800 yuan to 258,800 yuan ($24,742 to $36,631). The car body is as long as 4,600 millimeters and wheelbase up to 2,690 mm.
GAC Honda VE-1
GAC Honda's first fully electric sport utility vehicle model VE-1 hit the market on Oct 21, in Shanghai. The variants of the new model are available with suggested prices ranging from 159,800 to 179,800 yuan ($22,620 to 25,449). The VE-1 is 4,308 millimeters in length, 1,824 mm in width and 1,625 mm in height, with a wheelbase stretching to 2,610 mm. Manufactured on GAC Honda's proven SUV production platform and coupled with the automaker's SPORT EV technology, the VE-1 features enhanced safety and handling. It has a maximum output of 120 kilowatts and a top torque of 280 Newton meters, with a maximum speed of 140 kilometers per hour. It can run up to 401 km on one charge and is capable of accelerating from 0 to 50 km/h in four seconds.
The new MG ZS
The new MG ZS was launched early this month in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, with seven variants at suggested prices ranging from 79,800 yuan to 112,800 yuan ($11,295 to $15,966). Targeting the younger generation, the small SUV features the latest operating system codeveloped by SAIC and Alibaba, and Level-2-plus autonomous functions. The car body is 4,323-millimeter long, with the wheelbase stretching to 2,585 mm. Its 1.5-liter high-performance engine has a maximum output of 88 kilowatts and a top torque of 150 Newton meters.
