China Daily | Updated: 2019-10-24 08:25

Editor's note: This year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China.

In October 1958, Chinese soldiers completely withdrew from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Since 1950, these volunteer soldiers fought with the Korean People's Army in the Korean War (1950-53) and helped with postwar rebuilding.

About 2.4 million soldiers from the volunteer army fought in the war. The two countries have located 71 memorial sites in the DPRK, with 105,000 out of 197,653 martyrs buried in the country, according to media reports.
