Editor's note: This year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China.
On Oct 22, 1991, the first International Conference on Traditional Medicine was held in Beijing, attracting representatives from 42 countries and regions.
At the conference, Oct 22 was designated as World Traditional Medicine Day to encourage people to use "nature-based medicines".
