3 dead in supermarket fire as clashes continue
Three people died in a fire in a Walmart supermarket while it was being ransacked in the Chilean capital early on Sunday. They were the first deaths in two days of violent unrest in which protesters have set buses on fire, burned metro stations and clashed with riot police in the city of 7 million. The protests, sparked by anger over social and economic conditions, have rocked one of Latin America's most stable countries. Santiago's Mayor Karla Rubilar said two people burned to death in the blaze and another later died in hospital, after the huge store was looted. The protests were triggered by an unpopular hike in metro fares, but President Sebastian Pinera announced on Saturday he was suspending it.

Officials arrested after gold mine tragedy
Investigators said on Sunday they had arrested three officials after a dam, said to have been built illegally, collapsed at a remote Siberian gold mine, killing 15 people. The Investigative Committee said the director of the gold mining company, Sisim, and the manager and foreman of the mining site in the Krasnoyarsk region had been arrested. The three have been taken to Krasnoyarsk for questioning, it said, adding that the company's offices had been searched. Five people were still listed as missing on Sunday, authorities said.

Trump drops plan to host G7 at his golf resort
Responding to stinging criticism, President Donald Trump has abruptly reversed his plan to hold the next G7 summit at his Doral, Florida, golf resort next year. Trump announced the rare backtrack on Saturday night after facing accusations that he was using the presidency to enrich himself by hosting the international summit at a private resort owned by his family. "Based on both Media & Democrat Crazed and Irrational Hostility, we will no longer consider Trump National Doral, Miami, as the Host Site for the G-7 in 2020," Trump tweeted.
