Smart school buses to improve students' safety

School buses equipped with monitoring technology powered by the Beidou Satellite Navigation System have hit the road in Xianning, Hubei province. The technology will enhance passenger safety. More than 180 buses are in operation. The system can monitor whether the bus is overloaded, is exceeding speed limits or breaking other traffic laws. A driver supervision system on the bus will monitor the driver's behavior, including smoking, dozing off, making phone calls or any loss of concentration. It also has an infrared alarm in case students are locked inside the bus.
