The Bengbu Design and Research Institute for the Glass Industry in Anhui province has developed the world's thinnest glass for such applications as cellphone touch screens. It transmits light better and is more flexible than the glass currently in wide use, the institute said. The ultrathin glass, knows as float glass, is a mere 0.12 mm thick, slightly thicker than a sheet of printer paper. It was produced last year and tops the previous record.
