County looks to the stars for poverty relief

A county in Chongqing is betting on astronomy in its latest poverty-relief efforts. Meteorological authorities in Youyang Tujia and Miao autonomous county issued a stargazing forecast, the first of its kind in the country. Youyang is located in the southeastern part of the mountainous Chongqing, with clear sky visibility. Each year from July to October, the county is an ideal place for observing the stars. According to the county government, the forecast is aimed at boosting the tourism sector with revenue aiding poverty relief efforts. Stargazing has been gaining popularity in China.
