Reading: Book market continues to grow

The country's book market in the first half this year continued to expand, registering a year-on-year growth of 11 percent, according to an industry report. Released by Beijing research company Openbook, the report said that the increase was driven by a surge in online sales, which grew by 24 percent from the previous year. Meanwhile, sales at brick-and-mortar stores dropped by 12 percent year-on-year. Children's books, which accounted for 27 percent of overall sales, continued to top the best-selling categories.
