By Yin Ruowei | China Daily | Updated: 2019-07-27 07:13

Marriott International has launched a sporting campaign with leading Chinese outdoor sports gear brand Toread to attract guests to its 23 hotels in Central and West China.

The campaign, titled "Discover the Beauty of Mountains", is part of the international hospitality giant's efforts to make China's spectacular mountain views part of guests' experiences.

At a news conference on Tuesday, Li Yuanyuan, the group's area director responsible for field marketing in China, said that Marriott hotels give travelers access to eight renowned mountains.

The destinations are famed for their rich history and culture. They include Wutai Mountain in Shanxi province, Taishan Mountain in Shandong province and Songshan Mountain in Henan province.

In February, three loyalty programs of Marriott Moments, Marriott Rewards Moments and SPG Moments merged under one name - Marriott Bonvoy. This new rewards program is one of the most outstanding features of Marriott International, according to the group.

Guests can register as members to take part in events that are designed for them to interact with scenery, people and traditions in a more profound and intimate way. This is according to Liu Zong, area vice-president in Central and West China of Marriott International.

"This time, our partnership with Toread shows Marriott International's strength and long-term vision of in-depth development of destinations," Liu said.

The campaign lasts from July 8 to Oct 13, covering such holidays as Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day. Travelers who book the limited suites can get a special Toread package with a sports water bottle and a camping bag inside.

"As a world-leading hotel group, Marriott International is constantly bringing innovations to life and is committed to providing guests with rich and varied destination experiences," Liu added.

Peak perks on offer to summer guests

Le Meridien Emei Mountain Resort, which opened in January, is the summer's hottest take on Emei Mountains in Southwest China's Sichuan province.

Near a high-speed railway station, the property is part of Marriott International's brand family and stands out among hotels in the region. It combines the hotel brand's effortless French style with touches that reflect the local scenery and culture.

Guests are taken in by the leafy and relaxed environment indoors and outside. Many of the hotel's 338 guest rooms and suites overlook the majestic mountains with floor-to-ceiling windows. The hotel's signature bed with crisp linens offer a transformative night's rest. With blue, gray and earth-tone colors, its lobby area and 2,200-square-meter function space have high ceilings that seem to evoke the heights of Emei Mountains.

Perks include a hot spring, fitness center, indoor heated swimming pool and traditional Sichuan dishes crafted by local chefs.
