Some crew members survive submersible fire

Some crew members survived a fire that killed 14 sailors on one of the Russian navy's deep-sea submersibles, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on Wednesday, without specifying the number of survivors from the blaze. Shoigu praised crew members for "heroic" actions on the research vessel, saying some seamen sacrificed their lives to save the ship when the fire broke out on Monday.

26 dead as a fishing boat sinks off coast

At least 26 people died on Wednesday when their fishing boat sank off the Caribbean coast of Honduras, official said. Armed forces spokesman Jose Meza said that 47 people, however, survived when the vessel sank off the remote coastal Mosquitia region. The boat sank near Cayo Gorda, a tiny island just northeast of the boat's point of departure.

Death toll in dam breach climbs to 15

Rescuers recovered three more bodies on Thursday morning, raising the death toll to 15 after a small dam breached in Maharashtra state, officials said. Rescue teams were still searching for eight people after the Tiware dam breached late on Tuesday during incessant rains and swept away nearly a dozen homes.
