Xi'an puts weight behind opening-up, investment and high-quality growth

In its quest for high-quality development of the economy and to improve the city's overall competitiveness, the government of Xi'an, Shaanxi province, is committed to creating a world-class business environment for enterprises and has placed innovation and entrepreneurship as being key to long-term growth, said local officials.

Xi'an was the starting point of the ancient Silk Road and had contributed a lot to the prosperity and development of the countries and regions involved in the route, said Li Mingyuan, mayor of Xi'an, during the Fourth Silk Road International Exposition and the Investment and Trade Forum for Cooperation between East and West China held earlier this month.

The annual event serves as a platform for countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative to promote trade, culture and people-to-people exchanges.
