As a key port in western China, Fangchenggang enjoys geographic advantages in developing marine economy. The city plans to further advance its harbor and shipping construction, build more ports and wharfs to form a multimodal logistics system of sea-rail intermodal and cross-border transportation lines. Fangchenggang is striving to develop industrial clusters of grain and oil, steel, aluminium and other emerging sectors. The city has taken environmental protection as a priority while developing industries. Fangchenggang has become China's first cross-border tourism trial zone in the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region. The city is speeding up key tourism projects covering beach sightseeing, forest ecological zone and cross-border tourism. Fangchenggang is vigorously expanding marine industries by building a batch of national-level demonstration zones for recreational fishing.

The forum serves as a platform for Fangchenggang to boost communication and industrial development in biomedical and healthcare through efforts from all walks of life. Health has no boundaries and the destiny of human beings is bonded together. Chinese Hospital Association is a nongovernmental organization with more than 3,000 member units. We have built lots of cooperative platforms with hospitals in many countries aimed at promoting communication and collaboration between Chinese medical institutes and their counterparts across the world. We have established groundbreaking relations with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Hospital Cooperation Alliance in medical sectors and further improved our services. We launch academic seminars and hold forums every year to create platforms for experts from around the world to share their ideas.

This year's forum has invited representatives from seven member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, four observer states and leaders and experts from countries such as the Philippines, Thailand, Ukraine and Moldova. Domestic participants include government officials from medical institutes, academicians and directors of medical agencies, universities and enterprises. A total of 800 attendees will take part in the forum, including some 200 foreigners, 58 experts and academicians and representatives from member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

Fangchenggang has established a special team to make preparations for the forum including arranging venues, providing services and strengthening security. We have made great efforts in guaranteeing all services of the forum such as improving the city's image, food security and safety.
