Society: Shanghai to build AI pilot zone

Shanghai has started to build the country's first pilot zone for the innovation and application of artificial intelligence. Approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the pilot zone in Pudong New Area has set three main tasks: to establish an AI core industrial cluster, to promote AI application and to build a support system for AI innovation. The city is eyeing a global AI hub with plans to expand the scale of its industry to more than 100 billion yuan ($14.5 billion) by 2020.
