Rankings: Costliest cities for homebuyers

Hong Kong is the most expensive city for homebuyers, with an average price for a home at about $1.24 million, followed by Singapore and Shanghai, according to consultancy CBRE's 2019 Global Living report. Shenzhen, Guangdong province, took fifth place, while Beijing was ninth. The report looks at average property prices, house price growth, average prime property prices, average monthly rent and rental growth in 35 global cities and ranks them for each metric.
