Iran
Foreign minister says he will visit DPRK
Iran's foreign minister said he will visit the Democratic People's Republic of Korea as both countries struggle under US sanctions. Iran's official IRNA news agency on Sunday quoted Mohammad Javad Zarif as saying that the visit is being planned and a date will be announced soon. The United States has ramped up sanctions on Iran since US President Donald Trump withdrew from its 2015 nuclear accord with world powers last year. The US has tightened sanctions on the DPRK to try to persuade it to give up its nuclear weapons.
Indonesia
At least 10 dead after severe floods
At least 10 people are dead and eight are missing after days of heavy rain triggered floods and landslides on the Indonesian island of Sumatra, authorities said on Sunday. About 12,000 people have been evacuated while hundreds of buildings, bridges and roads have been damaged by the severe weather which affected nine districts or towns across Bengkulu province, officials said. The waters have receded in some places but officials warned the full extent of the damage was not yet known and some areas were still cut off. "The impact of this disaster may increase," national disaster agency spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said.
