Editor's note: This year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China.
On April 29, 1991, construction of the cable-stayed Yangpu Bridge started in Shanghai.
It connects the city's Yangpu district to Pudong New Area. The bridge plays an important role in Pudong's development.
