Industrial robot sales up 15 percent
China's industrial robot industry has developed rapidly with sales last year increasing nearly 15 percent, data from a Chinese think tank showed. A total of 156,400 industrial robots were sold in China in 2018, an increase of 14.97 percent year-on-year, making the country the world's largest market for industrial robots for six consecutive years, according to GGII, a Chinese think tank on emerging industries. Tremendous development of main user industries such as automobiles, high-end equipment manufacturing, and electronic and electrical appliances has boosted sales of industrial robots, according to experts at an intelligent manufacturing industry forum on Thursday.
Guangdong's foreign trade contracts in Q1
Total foreign trade in South China's Guangdong province contracted by 1 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of this year to 1.55 trillion yuan ($230 billion), customs statistics show. The trade accounted for 22.1 percent of the country's total, which increased by 3.7 percent compared with the same period last year, according to Guangdong customs.
Air China reports 3% increase in revenue
Air China, the country's flag carrier, registered growth in its business revenue and net profit in the first quarter of this year, according to a company statement. Business revenue climbed 3 percent year-on-year to 32.55 billion yuan ($4.84 billion) during the period, while net profit attributable to listed shareholders reached 2.72 billion yuan, up 3.6 percent from the same period last year. The airline's total assets amounted to 281.18 billion yuan as of the end of March, a notable increase of 15.37 percent from the end of last year, the statement said.
